Learning doesn’t just happen.
Children need to know how to learn. Knowing how to learn means developing certain foundational skills that lead to learning.
Without these foundational learning skills children will struggle to learn and will not reach their full potential. The twelve learning skills in this assessment are directly related to school learning. Children who lack, or do not use, these skills struggle to learn and keep up with their peers.
With these skills children are ready to learn anything, anytime, anywhere. These skills continue to develop as your child gets older.

The skills come in three groups –
Physical learning skills – children need to be able to see, hear, and move easily as well as having enough energy for their brain to work properly.
Emotional learning skills – children who have poor attitudes about themselves, others, their work and the future rarely put in the effort required to learn.
Cognitive learning skills – children need to be able to pay attention, understand what is being taught, process the information and produce result. I call these the ‘school’ skills.
